Watch This With Rick Ramos

WatchThis fans, this week I sit down with my good friend Ibrahim Chavez to discuss the box office hit Straight Outta Compton (dir. F. Gary Gray). In this episode Chavez and I discuss the overall success of the film in depicting South Central Los Angeles of the late 80's and early 90's. In true WatchThis fashion we also use Compton's success to springboard to Dennis Hopper's 1988 Police and Gangbanger drama Colors as well as The Hughes Bros. 1993 Masterpiece Menace II Society. In this episode we take a look at race relations, violence, the Los Angeles Riots, and the - oftentimes - conflicting nature of the 1st Ammendment and Responsibilty in art. Take a lesson and enjoy as we reminisce and debate the challenging nature of these three films. As always, Thanks.
