On this weeks episode of Watch This w/Rick Ramos I continue with the great comedy teams focusing on The Three Stooges - Larry Fine, and the Brothers Howard; Moses "Moe" Howard, Samuel "Shemp" Howard, and Jerome "Curly" Howard. I sit down and talk great memories of discovering The Stooges on 1980's syndicated television as well as their lasting and critically underrated legacy. This week I also include a look at The Farrelly Brothers 2012 re-imagining The Three Stooges Movie, a film that should have been a horrible mistake but turned into an enjoyable, fun, and respectful experience.

On this weeks episode of WatchThis w/Rick Ramos I start a month-long look at Comedy Teams beginning with two of my favorites. Although Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor made only four films together they are recognized as one of the great cinematic comedy pairings.  Ignoring their first film, Silver Streak, and their last, Another You, the focus is placed directly on 1980's Stir Crazy and 1989's See No Evil, Hear No Evil. I love both of these movies, and after watching them in preparation for the show, I have found so much more what I love in them. I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed talking. No Jokes, No Laughs as I'm joined by my good friend Ibrahim Chavez to discuss Tom McCarthy's dramatization of the Boston Globe investigation of the Catholic Church Pedophilia Scandal, Spotlight. Starring Michael Keaton, Stanley Tucci, Rachel McAdams, and Mark Ruffalo this is easily one of the best and most important films of the year. Along with Spotlight we take a look at Michael Cuesta's criminally underseen 1990 independent film L.I.E featuring a young (almost unrecognizable) Paul Dano and a frightening, unsettling, and ultimately brave and brilliant performance from Brian Cox. Both films deserve your attention and if this episode falls short of being entertaining I hope that it is at least thought-provoking. Best Wishes and Thank You for your continued support.

WatchThis w/RickRamos is back and I'm talking one of my idols . . . The Greatest Comic to ever step on stage, The Two Most Beautiful Words in the World of Comedy Mr. Richard Pryor. From the earliest days of watching him in his concert films Richard Pryor Live in Concert and Richard Pryor Live on the Sunset Strip, through Stir Crazy, The Toy, Blazing Saddles (co-writer), Blue Collar, and Bustin' Loose, this has truly been one of the great inspirations of mine and my fellow comics' lives. This week I go on an epic rant on how bad some of the theatrical choices have been, focusing on Nancy Meyers/Robert De Niro embarassment The Intern as well as Baltasar Kormákur's Everest. That's a bit of a crapstorm before I get in to this weeks best film the Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) directed Sicario - easily one of the best films of the year. Finally a movie in theaters that I can recommend without reservation. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I did. On this weeks episode of WatchThis w/Rick Ramos I go back to basics, talking one movie that many of you have seen - Martin Scorsese's 1973 debut Mean Streets (ignoring student films and a Roger Corman produced independent) - and one that many of you have never heard of,  black-listed director Jules Dassin's French produced jewelry heist masterpiece Rififi. Two vastly different films from directors worlds apart. Other than both films being incredibly important to cinema, I have no idea of a connection. So sit back and listen as I ramble on about my love for these two films. I also take a look at Paul Weitz's new film Grandma featuring a wonderfully nuanced performance from the gret Lily Tomlin and an Oscar worthy performance from Sam Elliot. If you can find it, Grandma is impossible to dissapoint . . . at least it was impossible for me.
